Professor (Retd.) · BRABU, Muzaffarpur
Darkness is not the absence of sight.
It is the absence of awareness.
Born blind, Dr. Ashwini Kumar Ashraf — also known as Ashwani Kumar Ashraf & Dr. A. K. Ashraf — did not let the absence of sight diminish the brilliance of his vision. Philosopher, poet, ghazal writer, and Professor (Retd.) of Philosophy at B.R. Ambedkar Bihar University (BRABU), Muzaffarpur, he has devoted his life to one pursuit: illuminating minds.
In a world of noise, Dr. Ashraf is a profound act of silence and depth. His words carry the weight of someone who experienced the world entirely through thought, language, and feeling.
Darkness is not the absence of sight. It is the absence of awareness.
Vision is not a function of the eyes. It is a function of the mind.
Light is not something we receive. It is something we cultivate.
आँखों में रोशनी नहीं, ग़ज़लों से कर रहे दुनिया रोशन।
Influence built through thought, integrity, and quiet consistency endures longer than any noise.
Raushni — meaning Light — is not merely a book of poetry. Published in both Hindi and Urdu, each edition is a distinct creative world — not a translation but two separate expressions of the same philosophical soul.
In this ghazal collection, light is moral clarity. Awareness. The courage to remain honest in a complex world. Dr. Ashraf's verses do not shout — they stay.
